By caring for each material appropriately, you can maintain their beauty and comfort for a long time. Here are some care tips you can do at home and points for long-term storage.

What you need

  1. Waterproof and stain-resistant spray
  2. 2-3 dry cloths
  3. Shoe care brush (for surfaces, soft bristles)
  4. Sole cleaning brush (+ eraser)
  5. Leather care product (colorless type)

Pre-treatment protection

- Before wearing for the first time -

Wakon sneakers are made by combining delicate kimono fabric and genuine leather. To maintain their new beauty for a long time, "protection" before you start wearing them is very important.

Using waterproof and stain-resistant spray

Kimono fabric can be prone to stains and color transfer. By coating it with a waterproof and stain-resistant spray before use, you can protect your shoes from dirt and rain.

Points to consider when choosing a spray:

  • Colorless and transparent, suitable for both leather and textiles
  • Provides not only waterproofing but also stain-resistant and oil-repellent effects

How to use:

  1. In a well-ventilated outdoor area, spray evenly over the entire shoe from about 30 cm away.
  2. Drying time is approximately 20-30 minutes.
  3. If necessary, a second coat is recommended.

※Some sprays may not be compatible with certain materials, so always test in an inconspicuous area before use.

Protection for the sole and leather parts

Covering the easily scuffed sole and leather parts with transparent protective film can prevent wear and tear. This not only preserves the shoe's aesthetic beauty but also allows you to enjoy it for longer.

Care after use

Kimono sneakers are unique, changing their appearance with each wear. A little daily care is the secret to maintaining their beauty and comfort for a long time.

Removing dust and dirt from the surface

After wearing, gently remove dust and fine dirt from the shoe's surface with a soft brush or dry cloth.
Kimono fabric is susceptible to friction and moisture, so it's important not to rub it vigorously.

Cleaning the sole

Brush away sand and dirt stuck in the sole's grooves. It's easier to remove when dry, so caring for them immediately after use is best.
Fine smudges and scuff marks can be removed by gently rubbing with a sneaker eraser or a regular white eraser. For stubborn dark marks, lightly rubbing with a dry melamine sponge also works well.

Care for the kimono fabric part

If there are noticeable stains, apply a small amount of neutral detergent to a dry towel and gently dab the area.
Afterward, always wipe off any moisture with a dry cloth and allow it to dry completely in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

× Directly wetting with water
× Rubbing with detergent
Such treatments can cause color fading and deterioration of fibers, so please avoid them.

Leather maintenance

For genuine leather, it is recommended to apply leather cream regularly to prevent dryness and cracking. As colored creams can cause uneven coloring, a colorless type is a safe choice.

Storage tips

When storing, avoid direct sunlight and humidity, and place in a well-ventilated area. Using shoe trees or stuffing with paper can prevent deformation and wrinkles. Especially for leather materials, shape changes can occur easily, so care even when not wearing them is important.

If the inside of the sneakers remains damp, it can lead to odors and mold. After use, insert a shoe dryer or newspaper to absorb moisture, which will allow you to continue wearing them comfortably.

A little effort before wearing can significantly change the shoe's appearance and lifespan.
