Unique Kimono Sneakers
Adorn yourself with time and create a one-of-a-kind pair
Japanese kimonos embody Japan's unique aesthetic sense, reflecting the four seasons and wishes.
They have long been intertwined with people's lives and spiritual culture, and each pattern has meaning.
In modern Japan, only a minority of people wear kimonos daily, and the demand for kimono fabrics has decreased. Meanwhile, weavers, dyers, and artisans continue to produce in small quantities to preserve the tradition. However, the reality is that many kimono fabrics either **languish in warehouses** or **are disposed of** because "they don't sell."

Wasoul repurposes such lost kimono fabrics as "something that will once again brighten someone's life." The pattern placement differs with each pair depending on where it is cut, creating a unique expression in the world.
With Wasoul shoes adorning your feet, a story sways with every step, becoming a bridge connecting the past and the present.
Instead of "wearing a kimono," you are "walking a kimono."
What you experience is a new cultural experience where Japanese aesthetics and modern sensibilities intersect.
Take your unique step with Japanese aesthetics.

Comfortable walking woven by artisans
70 years of shoemaking, at its foundation
Wasoul sneakers are created by Axcel Co., Ltd. (And Steady), a long-established shoemaking company in Asakusa, Tokyo.
This long-established shoe manufacturer has supported Japanese shoemaking for 70 years. The cultivated skills and sensibilities of its artisans underpin the "walking comfort" of Wasoul.

"Walking" transformed by Japanese skill and spirit
Especially noteworthy is their deep understanding of leather tanning and processing, and their exquisite cutting techniques that make the most of the kimono fabric.
Each piece of genuine cowhide is carefully selected and placed in the appropriate location, considering its thickness, softness, and surface texture, thus achieving both a good fit and durability.
Since each piece of kimono fabric has a unique pattern, the artisans manually check which part to use to achieve the most beautiful balance as footwear, and then cut (die-cut) it accordingly.
In addition, the three-dimensional last design refined over many years of shoemaking, and the precise construction of the shank and insole, support the entire sole of the foot, providing firm stability and a light step.
Beyond appearances, there is a tangible "quality you understand when you wear them."

The instep fit, adjustable with laces, the leather that molds to your foot, and the kimono pattern that enhances your footwear. All of these contribute to the "difference" that can only be appreciated because every detail is meticulously crafted.
With the reliable craftsmanship of 70 years of history, we continue to create shoes that are more than just shoes.
Tradition inherited at your feet
The aesthetic and wishes contained in a single bolt of kimono fabric
Wasoul sneakers are not merely "Japanese-style."
They use genuine kimono fabric that once graced someone's special day.
Within it, the view of nature, aesthetic sensibilities, and prayers that Japanese people have cherished since ancient times are embedded in each weave and dye.

Sustainable practices beginning with "Mottainai"
Giving new life to lifelong fabric
Kimono fabric is meant to last a lifetime.
However, in modern times, there are many fabrics that remain unused, either because they were left over without being tailored, or because of minor flaws.
At Wasoul, we upcycle such fabrics as part of our genuine leather sneakers, breathing new life into them.
This product began with the thought, "It's too good to throw away," and "It's too beautiful to leave dormant."

Turning the transience of one-of-a-kind pieces into value
Each upcycled fabric has a unique pattern, creating a one-of-a-kind look.
The "delicacy" inherent in fabric may sometimes mean it's less durable.
However, this too is an expression of the unique Japanese sensibility that cherishes transience—the idea that "beauty resides in transience."
The spirit of cherishing life and respecting materials, embodied in the word "mottainai," quietly resonates with modern sustainability.
